An Interview with Alexa, Acquisition Lead of SergisDAO
--
This week, all members of SergisDAO are in for a real treat as we present an exclusive interview with Alexa, Acquisition Lead at SergisDAO. Read the interview to discover Alexa’s approach to making her remarkable AMA sessions and learn about her sources of inspiration. Enjoy the read!
Tell us what you think are the most important facts about yourself.
Thank you for this question! Well, I guess one of the most interesting things is my education. I have a degree in English language. I also have traveled around the world a lot, studying languages and cultures of other countries. I have visited countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. I like to research the history of the languages I study. What’s more, at the moment I am getting a degree in psychology in order to improve my communication skills both in work and personal communication, which is very important to me.
We all love your AMA sessions and your vlogs. But we are also interested in what is happening behind the scenes. Tell us how you get ready for the events.
Oh, that is part of my job, too! First of all, I need to collect all the necessary information and statistics. Then I write an outline and basic questions. If we are talking about the AMA, I send these questions to the speaker in advance so that they have time to prepare their answers. And if we are talking about a news summary video, in addition to gathering relevant information, I have to arrange the sound and light for the shoot. This, too, is an essential step in the creation of videos.
How were you able to reach such a high level of professionalism?
Thank you very much, I am happy to hear that! Actually, if we are talking about the level of English, in addition to my higher education I studied at the International Language College in Cambridge, which gave me good hands-on skills. As for the delivery, my extensive experience in giving interviews and doing TV shows played a role here. As you understand, it requires good voice training and the ability to master the phonetics of the language, avoiding useless filler words.
What has the experience of hosting voice events taught you?
Experience in voice events is an excellent way to improve communication and listening skills, problem-solving in unconventional situations (poor connection or a user in a bad mood), and the ability to build a welcoming atmosphere and a rapport with the community.
What kind of feedback do you get from members of our community?
I often receive personal messages where people offer their suggestions and interesting ideas for developing the community, ask questions, as well as thank me for events.
What inspires you in life and work?
Creativity is what inspires me the most! I believe that working with the community, as well as hosting events involves creativity. There is always an opportunity to share my emotions, to show support to community members and to come up with some activities that not only provide entertainment, but also offer a chance to learn and grow.
What have you learned from scratch since you began hosting events?
I can’t say that I have learned anything from scratch… It seems to me that I already had the basic skills for this job.
What alternative formats for communicating with community members would you like to try?
I would really like to try video broadcasts, so that we could not only hear but also see one another. It seems to me that such communication brings us all closer.
What’s the hardest part of your job?
I would say that it is out-of-the-box thinking and problem solving. This is when technical difficulties arise that the speaker or I cannot resolve. For instance, when the sound gets lost or when the person asking the question is trying to cause a conflict. In such situations I need a lot of patience and composure. And it’s also vital to be able to calm everyone down.
What would you like to say to our community?
I would like to tell our community not to slow down! Because the more you progress, the better you do your work. What is even more important, you make more money! In addition, I would like to say that I am really proud of you guys! And very grateful for your dedication to our values and goals!
Do not miss the next AMA with Alexa, which will take place on January 18 in our community: https://discord.gg/sergis
